Egypt Election

Assalamualaikum, you guys!

It's going to be the
final phase for the
election in Egypt next
16th June 2012. Well I heard that somewhere.
Whether you are in Egypt
or not, I have the
feeling that you have
to know about the
most important event
which is going
take place here,
perhaps it would change the world.

I've done some verbal survey...uhm..that is another way of saying 'I asked a few people I met' about their opinion for both candidate Dr. Muhammad Mursi and Ahmad Shafeeq. And it turned out great...for me. By GREAT, I mean I almost want myself to be part of the nation and go for the election crossing the candidate I want!

Okay, that is not so going to happen.

Also, I kind of diffuse myself in this topic. Whenever I hire a taxi, I'd have something to talk about rather than a boring under the sun taxi ride. I have to admit that my Arabic is not so well but at least I can open a moderate conversation.

Office hours

Now I want to nag, nag, nag
and blab and babble
all I want!

Not really but....uhm...
yeah...whatever!
Just stay with me, OK?

I think you already realize
that in here, Egypt all the
offices closes at 0002 PM.
Including the banks, schools offices, universities offices
and I'm pretty sure all those governments offices too. And I totally DISAGREE with such thing! I mean....I'm open to accept that school offices can be closed at 0002 PM, because they are SCHOOLS! But please...I'm stressing myself out because the office in the university I'm studying closes at such hour.

How come? Look, we students have classes from as early as 0008 AM and some end even at 0004 PM. And if we want to settle down things at the OFFICE, we have to skip a class. This is unacceptable for me...cause I DESPERATELY want to keep a clean record for my attendance! Luckily, my Paediatric round starts at 0830 AM everyday and supposed to end at 0001 PM. Which we don't usually ends our class exactly when the clock struck ONE! Logically, I would still have another extra half an hour either before my class starts or after my class ends. However, it turns out that my brilliant idea would never work. Because I used to wait for the front door of the office to fling open at 8 AM and then I got bored.

I'm so sick of it, I could just SCREAM!

Courage

Yesterday I was really sad.
I don't know if that
particular word suited my feeling
but it was frustrating.
I was crying my heart out.
I received loads of encouragement from my fellow friends.
But I found myself returning
back my fluctuating sadness.

It was a huge matter that I couldn't tell you. Cause if you know the whole story, you'd be downhearted too. Well, that's if your 'iman' is not so strong, like me I'd say. Yes, I was weak that time, and still is. And so, I wouldn't tell you about the subject I was whining about. Because to solve that problem, they happened to appear fixing them. Fix them on the SURFACE but don't go to the root. Because it gave me a heartsick, I was feeling blue.

Unintended

Yesterday was a nightmare. I just closed my eyes and lay there like a beached whale, which every inch of my body aching. Even my hair hurt. However, the worst part was me performing a freak SHOW.

With that degree of aching, I went screaming on and off. Very abnormally loudly.

And I was the freak.

So, today, I'm absolutely NOT sharing about yesterday. I'd wish to tell myself that yesterday was nothing. Nothing is ever nothing. It's always something.

Well then, let me spread the story of yesterday's yesterday to a yesterday, to another yesterday. I'm pretty sure it means a lot of yesterdays.

Nobody but you

I'd give my all to have
Just one more night with you
I'd risk my life...lalalalala

Melancholy.

Now, I don't know whether you know it, but I have a new pet. And it is a cat. It is not so little tom, with fine big whiskers and a nice long bushy tail. So white all over and so fluffy.

Very very very playful. It runs all over my spacious room..on my desk  pretending to study, then on my keyboard replying all the instant messengers on the screen. It hops to the floor, furiously to the mirror watching his reflection wondering if there's another cat behind it. Most of the times, it sits on my super duper new printer washing his face to come out printed on a piece of paper. Next, it climbs my bed that I refused to share with, so I sacrifice my pillow to satisfy him. It curls as i take him with his pillow on my lap. It sleeps soundly.

Distraction

What is 'lucky'?

Months ago during my attachment at a KK in my place, I introduced myself as a medical student in Egypt. And the staffs said, "Yana, you are very lucky!" Despite the lucky me, in there was the first time in my life dealing with real blood drawing and unsurprisingly I failed a few times. Yet, I was still lucky.

Years ago, even when I told my most bossom friend in world (credit to Nasratul Naim), that my life turned upside down and my parents were hating each other, yet she uttered dearly, "Don't you realize how lucky you are?"

After all I've been through in my life, all the setbacks, frustrations, disappointments, problems and breakdowns...yet I have to consider myself as 'lucky'?

Evening in Qaitbay

A few days ago we went to Alexandria, Republic of Egypt. That was among the annual trip organized by the university for us. Well, when I say that it was organized by the university, you can it's free but it doesn't means that it was completely FOC. Why? Oh, my! What was that USD 7000 are for anyway! But I must say that it is a good chance for us. Speaking of that, the participants were about sixty students, ikhwah and akhawat. Both were from the 3rd and the 4th years students

Everybody seemed to enjoy their time during the trip. No doubt. As for me, there was one spot that caught my eyes. The Citadel of Qaitbay.

Secret of April

My first birthday message was from my beloved 'Man of The House'- , my 'little' brother, Muhammad Syazwan.

I woke up this morning, surprised to see a chain of text messages in my inbox. A lot of birthday messages from families (my 3 sisters Alin, Baby-E, Wani) and friends (too many to list down). Thank you for all of you. You are very dear to me and your prayers are very precious to me. May Allah provide you with goodness and blessings.

Obviously, I need to tell you not.

Alhamdulillah, Allah gives me one more chance again this year. It is my 22nd birthday. All praises to Allah.

Thanks Pn. Afida and Pn. Alia

I had my Anatomy group tutorial for the Second Year students, which I've just finish it this morning, right after I came back from the 2 hours journey from Cairo. By the end of next week, there are so many things for me to finish. I need to pass up my Ophthalmology Quiz, finish the Toxicology Assignment, submit my Nuwair article to the Head Editor, prepare for Public Health end round exam, in-charge for Towards Tamayyuz Workshop and to reply e-mails from my friends which had been days in my inbox...! And, I still have another 2 books to read, 'Why Mars and Venus Collide' and 'Nota Hati Seorang Lelaki'. In addition, my brother will has his examinations on this April.

La hawla quwwata illa billah.

Otanjoubi omodetto, mama.

This morning I made another long distance phone call to home. As I was talking to my mom...

"You aren't in Turkey, are you?"
"Erm? Not yet, mom."
"Yes, I know. Your trip will be after my birthday. When is the exact date?"

Kababo! Oh my! My! My! How on earth did I forget my mom.s birthday?? She must have been waiting for my call in the past two days. I had not even sent her a birthday message, not to mention wishing her. Blush! Blush! Blush!  Oh Allah, I am so so so ashamed! Oh mama, forgive your absent minded girl...really sorry.....OKAASAAAAAN, HONTONI GOMENNE!

You And I See

Who seeks joy in paradise will unite within for you and me.

This afternoon was very bright. Sun shone down on my head, lighting up my soul with hope. With the Noble Mushaf in my hands, I walked out from the hospital wetting my tongue with Surah Al-'Alaq. Al-'Alaq means The Clot.

Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)], Has taught man that which he knew not.
(Quran 96: 1-5)

Nawal was patiently waiting for us on the Ground Floor. We felt sorry towards her but we had to finish our practical course. Again, sorry my dear Nawal! Then the four of us: Azzahra', Amal, Nawal and me went for a taxi to Maghrabi Eye Hospital right away after the class. It was 1.30 in the afternoon...sure tiring...but we had to be in the OT there. As soon as we reached the famous private hospital, we went upstairs and were welcomed warmly by the hospital attendants. Each of us supplied by a surgical suit and were directed to an Operation Theater after changing into our new attires.

The journey

Al-Azhar Mosque, Cairo.

Flying from the ‘City of 1000 Minarets’ took about 12 hours to reach the ‘City of Lights’. I looked at the clouds outside. Clean and white. The sky was blue. It felt like a dream. I never dream that I would be back to Malaysia this year. Subhanallah. Allah The Creator:
He Who created the seven heavens in layers. You will not
find any discrepancy in the creation of the All-Merciful. Look again-do you see
any gaps? Then look again and again. Your sight will return to you dazzled and
exhausted!
(Qur'an, 67:3-4)

He is Al-Khaaliq. He creates the sun, the moon and the lovely sky. Also the land , the hills and the mountain high. Imagine a huge planet with its surface completely empty. There are no humans or animals, no plants or insects. He has made us and everything- the beasts, the fowls and birds that sing.

Can I be multilingual?

" U changed me. the Malaysians," said a local Egyptian who teaches us Arabic lesson. My friends and I looked at each other, puzzled. Then he began his story, how he started to concern about standard Arabic and English language. We listened to him, doozed.

During his schooling, he learnt English and Arabic as other students would do, to excel in examinations. As he entered Al-Azhar University, the oldest university in world, he started to take both languages for granted. Until that day, the day he met a Malaysian student.

"He was a nice friend. He can't communicate using General Arabic that is spoken in Egypt. But his English and Standard Arabic surprised me," he continued.
